Wed 8:00 Man Utd v Wigan
United are slowly rising through the gears as they mount their title defence. The victory at home to Chelsea was an emphatic one and most bookies have now installed the Red Devils as title favourites. This fixture against Wigan is the first of United's 2 games in hand and a win would take them above Chelsea into second; it seems that Liverpool's nerve might not hold especially considering their lack of cutting edge at the Britannia Stadium last weekend. Ferdinand remains doubtful because of back problems but his replacement, Jonny Evans, has not been found wanting. Their opponents, Wigan, are the form team of the Premier league after their last gasp victory at home to Spurs. It's 6 wins from 7 for the Latics but 5 of those have come at the JJB and their form on the road has been nowhere near as comprehensive. Wigan are another smaller side performing beyond expectations but United have dropped just 2 points at Old Trafford and a comfortable home victory looks on the cards.
Home Win 2-0
