Tues 7:45 Birmingham v Newcastle
Just a couple of points and four places separate these two sides in mid-table. Newcastle are better placed in tenth but five points is all that's keeping them from relegation. Birmingham's position is obviously of more concern but a win would lift them above their opponents and ease their relegation fears. Brum's second Premier League win on the bounce has already alleviated some worries and the manner of those victories, in which they didn't concede, is evidence of their old confidence returning. In all competitions the Blues have actually stretched their unbeaten run to five games, winning four of them, with Zigic netting on three occasions in the last three matches. Their opponents, Newcastle, were the better side last weekend at Ewood Park but are missing Andy Carroll and their inability to finish probably cost them two points. The Magpies haven't won in six games in all competitions although four of those have been Premier League fixtures in which they've drawn. Newcastle haven't been short on resolve but their problems up front are likely to cost them all three points in what is sure to be a tight match.
