Tues 8:00 Liverpool v Chelsea
Saturday's FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea rounded off what has been a fairly poor season for Liverpool by their standards. Winning the Carling Cup at least guarantees them some form of European football next season but they failed to make any impact at Wembley last weekend until Andy Carroll's arrival. The Geordie could well start tonight although trying to pre-empt which players may be rested is something of a minefield. Liverpool have no new injuries to concern Dalglish whilst Cahill and Luiz are still out for the Blues with Mikel and Meireles doubts. Terry, Ivanovic and Ramires are all suspended for the Champions League final so will likely be first in contention for their remaining domestic fixtures. Drogba could also be rested leaving Torres to do the damage against his old club, a distinct possibility given that the Spaniard was left on the bench for Saturday's showpiece but did grab that equaliser at the Nou Camp and fired a hat-trick against QPR only the other week. Chelsea haven't lost on the road in any competition since they were beaten at the Etihad in mid-March whilst Anfield is far from a fortress at the moment. The Reds have taken just a single point from the last 12 available at home including defeats to Fulham, West Brom and Wigan. It's difficult to see Liverpool motivating themselves for this match and though expected to be close, Chelsea might just pinch it!
