Tues 19:45 Sunderland v Reading
Sunderland's weekend defeat at home to Chelsea saw them slip into the bottom three, just 4 points and a place above opponents Reading, ensuring that we have a relegation scrap on our hands. A win for the Mackems would lift them as high as 15th whilst the same for the Royals would only serve to close the 4-point gap to just one. There's not much to pick between the two on recent Premier League form with Reading having lost 4 on the bounce and Sunderland faring slightly better with a single point their sole reward from the last 4 matches. On the road the Royals are yet to win a match and have just 2 points from 8 attempts whilst O'Neill's men have won only the once at the Stadium of Light this season. Sunderland showed signs of improvement in the recent Norwich and Chelsea defeats, not only in terms of fighting spirit but also in terms of quality. Cattermole is out and Fletcher is doubtful after struggling to recover from an ankle problem. Reading will have to do without centre-half Sean Morrison who limped off in the defeat at St Mary's whilst striker Pogrebnyak is doubtful after missing that game. Expecting it to be very tight at the Stadium of Light but think the home side could edge it.
Home Win 1-0
